Julie Winkle Giulioni is a champion for workplace growth, development, and engagement. She helps executives and leaders optimize talent and potential within their organizations. One of Inc. Magazine’s Top 100 speakers, she’s the co-author of the international bestseller, Help Them Grow or Watch Them Go.
She’s also the author of Promotions Are SO Yesterday, which has been recognized with Nautilus and Axiom Business Book Awards. Her new book, Checked Out, which addresses how organizations and leaders can break the cycle of myths, metrics, and misguided engagement efforts, will be released in 2027.
She is a regular columnist for Training Industry Magazine and SmartBrief. Jessica Butz has been working for organized labor since 1988. She began her Labor Management Partnership career working with Kaiser Permanente in 1999 to upgrade hundreds of Northern California chart room employees into new careers before the change to HealthConnect. She negotiated the KP HealthConnect Effects Agreement and established the employer paid Taft-Harley education trusts at Kaiser Permanente in 2005 National Bargaining.
She is now the Alliance director of workforce planning and development and co-director of the Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust.
She has a bachelor’s in psychology from San Diego State University with a minor in African American Studies. During her time there, she was a researcher and teaching assistant for the Psychology Department.

Physician Assistant, Colorado, Kaiser Permanente
Tiffany Knudsen has practiced as a physician assistant since 2012. She has dedicated her career to improving patient access to high-quality health care. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in advocacy, working with the Colorado Academy of Physician Associates to advance the profession and promote policies that expand access to care across Colorado. Her commitment to service and health care access has also been recognized through her work with the National Health Service Corps.
She used the Ben Hudnall Memorial Trust to complete her Doctor of Medical Science degree with a concentration in psychiatry. She serves on the Kaiser Permanente Colorado Workforce Planning and Development Committee and the Advanced Practice Providers Partnership Committee.
She recently helped develop a joint injection training program for advanced practice providers. The program has been well received. It expanded access to needed musculoskeletal procedures, improved timely patient care, and strengthened workforce capability.

Alliance Chair, Northwest Workforce Planning and Development
Rhea Hindemit has been with Kaiser Permanente for 16 years. She is the Alliance chair for Northwest Workforce Planning and Development, tech chair of OFNHP, and heads up leadership development.
She is a histology tech by trade. She is working toward her master’s in adult education and enterprise learning, using our educational resources here at Kaiser Permanente. She is passionate about supporting health care education in the community, growth for current workers, and great union jobs.

Ebony Smith has served 19 years at Kaiser Permanente in leadership, operational excellence, innovation, and workforce development roles. She leads strategic initiatives that enhance organizational performance, improve member experiences, and drive sustainable business outcomes.
Throughout her career, she has partnered with leaders, cross-functional teams, and union-represented employees to implement process improvements, support change initiatives, and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
Her experience includes leadership development, onboarding, mentoring, employee engagement, labor-management collaboration, and large-scale process improvement efforts. A certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, she is passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential by creating opportunities for growth, learning, and professional development. Georgia Regional Service Leader, Health Plan Operations, Kaiser Permanente
Brian Faison is a mission-driven health care executive. He has more than 30 years of leadership experience across health care operations, insurance administration, consumer services, marketing, and business development.
He currently leads health plan administration across Kaiser Permanente’s Georgia market. In his role, he advances operational excellence, membership growth, regulatory compliance, and customer experience.
During his 18+ years with Kaiser Permanente, he has led major initiatives including Affordable Care Act implementation, Medical Records Administration, Mental Health Parity governance, Open Enrollment readiness, and technology transformation.
He earned an MBA in marketing from Clark Atlanta University and a bachelor’s in political science from Morehouse College. Outside of work, he serves on the Northwest Family YMCA Advisory Board and is a licensed Georgia life, accident, and sickness insurance agent. He is passionate about developing people, strengthening communities, and improving health care access and service excellence for members and families.

Chief Nurse Executive, San Leandro Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente
Sharon Hampton is chief nurse executive and Equity, Inclusion, Diversity & Belonging sponsor at Kaiser Permanente San Leandro. She leads nursing excellence, professional practice, and operations across Nursing and Ancillary Services.
With more than 35 years of clinical and leadership experience at Stanford, UC Davis, MD Anderson, and Kaiser Permanente, she advances health equity through Caring Science, cultural intelligence, shared decision-making, and practice-based research. As Watson Caring Science Institute faculty, she integrates Caring Science into clinical practice to foster healing, trust, fairness, respect, inclusion, and belonging.
An accomplished author and national presenter on implicit bias and health outcomes, she challenges health professionals to recognize their role in reducing inequities and elevating marginalized voices. She earned a PhD in nursing science from Texas Woman’s University, a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from San Jose State University.
